Diljit Dosanjh Leads Relief Efforts, Adopts 10 Villages in Punjab

As Punjab battles severe floods, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has stepped forward to support ten badly affected villages in Amritsar and Gurdaspur. He is working with NGOs and the local administration to provide relief. His team shared on Instagram that their immediate focus is on food, clean water, and medical aid, while also planning long-term efforts such as rebuilding homes and villages.

Actors Step Up to Support Flood-Hit Punjab

Other well-known stars have also come forward to support Punjab in this crisis. Actress Sonam Bajwa shared an emotional post on Instagram, saying she is doing everything she can to help. She urged people to donate to organisations working in rescue and relief, adding that every contribution can change someone’s life. Actor Sanjay Dutt also showed support on X, calling the situation heartbreaking and sending prayers to the people of Punjab. He said he would help in all possible ways.

Ammy Virk Adopts 200 Homes for Flood-Hit Families

Singer-actor Ammy Virk announced on Instagram that he and his team have adopted 200 homes for families who lost their houses. He said it was painful to see people without shelter and explained that this support was not only about rebuilding houses but also about giving hope and courage to start life again.

Himanshi Khurana Joins Relief, Assists 10 Families

Punjabi singer-actor Himanshi Khurana also joined the relief mission. She promised to help resettle 10 families affected by the floods. In her Instagram note, she said every Punjabi is heartbroken by the current situation and stressed the importance of unity. She urged celebrities, leaders, the media, and the public to stand together and help rebuild Punjab.

Govt response to crisis

Meanwhile, the Punjab government ordered the closure of all 43 centres under the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) until September 3 due to bad weather and floods. Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian said over 2.56 lakh people in 12 districts have been affected. Thousands have been displaced, and large damage has been caused to crops, livestock, property, and homes. He added that 15,688 people have been rescued so far, with the highest numbers from Gurdaspur, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Amritsar, Pathankot, and Hoshiarpur. The state has also set up 129 relief camps housing 7,144 people. Ferozepur has the most with 3,987 inmates, followed by Fazilka, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, and Gurdaspur.
